Mental health improved in people who create art
Mental health depends on many factors, however, it has been shown that the creation of art or writing improves one’s outlook and enhances a more positive attitude. Painting is especially a hands on experience, and without using the inner critic, can be a very rewarding means to improving mental health. The experience of painting in itself is where the benefits lie, as whether one is talented or not, makes no difference in the mental improvement.
One just needs to sit down before some acrylic paint and paper or canvas, and begin. Brushes, sponges, water, knife, erasers (yes, erasers) can be part of the arsenal, as well as bubble wrap. When everything is out on the table, one takes the brush and begins to dabble. Color goes anywhere, as this is abstract. If realism is desired, a sketch is made first, but sometimes this can hinder the process. The eraser is for carving, not erasing. The bubble wrap is coated with acrylic paint, the eraser is coated and acrylic prints are made by printing with the eraser, bubble wrap, and sponge.
When finished, it can be put in a frame, and in the process one has fun, as well as artwork.
